The second annual Wiregrass Blues Fest, December 8, 2012, at Cultural Arts Center in Dothan, will honor Big Mama Thornton, who had her roots in Ariton, Alabama. The evening will start at 7pm with a free educational presentation and discussion of the life, career and impact of Big Mama Thornton. Music (for which tickets are required) will begin at 8pm. Headlining the festival will be Mac Arnold and

 Plate Full O' Blues. Mac has had a long career in the blues, including touring with Muddy Waters and sharing the stage with many blues greats, including Howlin' Wolf, Elmore James, Jimmy Reed, Junior Wells, Big Joe Williams, and Big Mama Thornton, to name a few. Expect to hear some great blues and some stories about Big Mama from Mac. Other performers will include Debbie Bond, SharBaby, Rachel Edwards and Little Jimmy Reed. This event is being presented by Troy University Dothan and Alabama Blues Project.
